OPENING PARTY: SAT, APRIL 14

THIS ONE'S GOING FULL BLAST!

The annual Urban Nomad party is not going to try to be weirder than last year, though who knows, it might happen anyway? Instead of going for all-out strangeness, this time we’re going for raw energy, so we put together the best lineup of full-blast and highly visual bands and DJs we could find, including Japan’s fashion-art-dance-rock-bizarrities TRIPPPLE NIPPPLES, a San Francisco DJ who dresses like a purple dinosaur, MOCHIPET, and home favorites GO CHIC, DJ NOODLES, FUNKY BROTHERS and MARCUS AURELIUS. In addition expect plenty of projectors, VJs and a whole warehouse full of trippy fun.

藝人介紹 / ARTISTS

TRIPPPLE NIPPPLES (JP)
"Overcaffeinated electronic art rock"-- THE NEW YORKER
“Ferociously fast and furious”-- THE GUARDIAN
“Full of energy…got the crowd going crazy...amazing” -- PHARRELL WILLIAMS
"Art you can sweat to" -- MTV IGGY

TRIPPPLE NIPPPLES from Tokyo is conceptual art, a dance party and punk rock show all at the same time. A couple months ago, they sold out seven shows in New York and were invited to open for DEVO on an east coast tour. PHARRELL WILLIAMS (N.E.R.D.) is a big fan and looking to collaborate with them later this year. They’re also coming off two successful European tours in 2011, including shows at Lowlands Festival (NL) and Summer Sonic (JP), and a support for DIE ANTWOORD. Mind you, this is a band fronted by three Japanese girls who usually go on stage in little more than body paint and costumes they made from the 100 yen store. “Insane” is a pretty overused word these days. It should be reserved for bands like this.

MOCHIPET (US)
Just call him the Jeremy Lin of glitch-hop and dubstep, and oh, by the way, did we mention that he wears a purple dinosaur costume? David Wang, a.k.a. MOCHIPET is definitely the cutest DJ we know, almost like a video game character come to life playing super bouncy, bass-heavy dance tracks. He’s also a Taiwanese-American DJ/producer coming straight out of San Francisco’s underground dance scene, and he’ll be playing his first ever gigs in Taiwan. So far, the young MOCHI has shared stages with the likes of Big Boi (Outkast), Kid Koala, Ken Ishii, M.I.A. and Rusko. He’s collaborated on tracks with artists from the worlds of skateboarding (Ray Barbee / Powell Peralta), hip hop (Jahcoozi, Spank Rock) and techno (Ellen Allien).

GO CHIC (TW)
Definitely our favorite electro-hippy chicks, GO CHIC’s mix of dance rock and grrrl punk has just got that kind of crazy energy that keeps you coming back for more. They’re coming off successful tours of Germany, Spain and the US in 2011, and a second album is now in the works, being produced in Berlin by alt-dance diva PEACHES. With that in the works, they’re not performing too much right now. We’re lucky to host one of GO CHIC’s few shows in the first half of 2012.

FUNKY BROTHERS (TW)
Infectious liver than live booty music from an 8-piece band that’s got the whole family on stage - the horn section, the hootchy mama on vocals, the sly rhythm section and a dash of guitar wizardry. It’s not for nothing that FUNKY BROTHERS have a reputation for party music!

DJ NOODLES (TW)
Do we need to mention yet again that she was the first female DJ accepted to the DMC world championships? Well, we just did I guess. But Noodles has meant so much more to Taiwan’s dance scene, whether it’s been setting standards at Luxy, spreading the love at giant raves in Indonesia or kicking out the jams it at indie parties. To be honest, we’re psyched to have her playing primetime slot in a warehouse party like this. It’s gonna be dope.

MARCUS AURELIUS (??)
No question about it. Marcus knows how to keep ya’ll’s big ol’ butts moving, how to slip some Pharcyde or rare Outkast track into a mix, how to keep the party bumping till the wee hours. No wonder we’re giving him the Mariano Rivera slot at this shindig. That's coz he's a closer like nobody's business!
